I found
this episode of THE SOUTH BANK SHOW, devoted to Rough Trade in 1979, on YouTube tonight. It's centered around Stiff Little Fingers, who perform several songs live (as well as Essential Logic and Robert Rental & the Normal.)
It's predictable but sad that the idealism shown by SLF, their manager and Geoff Travis here didn't last long. There's a longer, much more extensive
doc on Rough Trade made in the mid 2000s that ends by celebrating their first UK #1 single: Duffy. (That said, the label seems to have come 'round again, and they're releasing excellent music by Lankum and black midi these days.)
