Congrats on reaching a big round number. I remember when you posted here letting us know you had finally been given your own show.

Yes indeed! It started as the late-night show on Monday nights. Here's the debut setlist.

That's exactly the thread I remembered ! I also recall it was a brutal time slot at first (not that I've ever listened to the show live).

Here's to many more years of brilliant dee-jaying.

Thank you Philippe! It really wasn't so brutal at first. It became rather onerous after I started my current job, eight years ago. Some days, I had to commute an hour to make a 5:30am start time. That made for a rough Tuesday.

My wife was worried that I might fall asleep behind the wheel. She advised me to grab the first prime-time slot that I could. The Friday night slot opened up in late 2016, and that's where I've been ever since.

"Monday Morning Rock" - Marshall Crenshaw

Good timing on this one. Seeing Marshall Crenshaw live will be on my 2024 bingo card.

That's my favorite Marshall Crenshaw song. I play it rather sparingly, though, because every time I do, it becomes an ear worm for the next three or four days.

I saw Marshall onstage just once, in the late '90s. A very cool performer. Yeah, I should add him to my card for the coming year; it's been too long.

I’ve owned ‘field day’ for years… how did I miss the charms of ‘Monday morning rock’? Thnx for getting me to give it a spin—

My hidden Crenshaw gem was always ‘blues is king’… love that track!

Congrats, sir! Like the Tim Curry song you played, you do the rock.

The channel I program for WFMU just had its’ 5th year anniversary. (To quote a certain feller you play every show: 5 years, what a surprise.) And this here message board just had its’ 20 anniversary. A toast to us all: Champagne for our real friends, and real pain for our sham friends!

You managed an entire "Rock" set without a single song with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. Nicely done!

I never thought of Marshall Crenshaw as a "hidden gems" kinda artist. Sure, a few of his songs have made a ripple on radio, and perhaps his portrayal of Buddy Holly in La Bamba elevated his profile temporarily. But overall, I figure that anyone who cares enough about the man's music has made it a point to dig into his catalog. As the late Renée Crist said, "Calling Marshall Crenshaw an unsung hero would be inaccurate, because anyone who knows his songs sings them all the time."
