I don't recall whether I mentioned it, but I recently added a regular (though infrequent) show to my calendar.
The Saturday mid-afternoon slot on KSER has long been devoted to soul, funk and R&B. But Bryan Ollie, God bless him, gave up his show, "The Soul & Funk Express," at the beginning of the pandemic. Since then, that time slot has been covered by a rotating cast of four DJs.
In months that included a fifth Saturday, those four hosts would work it out amongst themselves who would take it, on a case-by-case basis. So I recently offered to take that slot when it occurs ... calling my show "A Fifth of Soul."
Today's show was an exceptionally fun one ... not to mention an easy one. When the audience is on board with you, the setlist writes itself.
