A force of nature. I saw Ike and Tina open for the Stones in 1969. Blinding!

Wow. You'd think the Stones would have learned when opener James Brown blew 'em off the stage.

Jagger posted a nice tribute:

"I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer. She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her."

I imagine Jagger (and maybe the Stones in general) felt they owed it to Tina when they asked them to join their tour given whatever help or guidance she must have given them.

I saw her perform in Denver in the mid-'90s, with Cyndi Lauper opening. She was terrific onstage, and although her comeback was well-secured by then, she clearly still was glad to have an audience.

She was incredible...I had a chance to see her in Memphis back in the late 90's, but I was studying for finals in grad school...as the years have gone by and her passing this week, I have come to rue that decision, Shakespeare couldn't kick like Tina!
