R.I.P. Ray Shulman

The link between Prog and Dream-Pop. A founding member of Gentle Giant (who, as noted in an earlier comment thread, seem to have been the first band that TP described as "angular"), he went on to produce many acts that are well-regarded in these parts - the Sugarcubes, Sundays, AR Kane, Ian McCulloch, the Veldt, Trash Can Sinatras, Cranes, etc.

I never heard Gentle Giant but his production career was nothing to sneeze at! I first started paying attention to him with the Sugarcubes records. The last credits I have for him were DVD-A disc authoring and audio mastering for the likes of Roxy Music, Ultravox, and Simple Minds.

Aww, too bad. Gentle Giant were an underappreciated prog band. And I didn't realize he had such extensive producer credits!
