Way back in September.
She was a vocalist in the Revolving Paint Dream and Biff! Bang! Pow!, two bands I was completely unfamiliar with until doing deep diving on Spotify and Cherry Red began putting out their C8- box sets. That whole era of British music passed me by at the time, due to so few of the C86 and C86-adjacent bands ever getting US distribution (JAMC, Mighty Lemon Drops, Woodentops, Primitives and Close Lobsters, a couple of others) and the absence of any good source to keep tabs on such stuff following TP's demise. Good God, it's dreadful remembering that half-decade or so of having to rely on
Rolling Stone and
Spin until
Option and
Alternative Press (back when it was good) started turning up on newsstands in my environs.
Anyhow, Christine Wanless was a key member of two early foundational bands on Creation, from an era of UK music that still is largely unknown in the US - as evidenced by the fact that a somewhat notable figure from it died four months ago and I just now saw news of it.
Here's a nice Revolving Paint Dream cut - [
