Dot Dash and DC Scene

Ira, thank you for this piece about Dot Dash, I really was unaware of their lengthy history although I have seen them as opening bands on a number of shows.

I also appreciated the reference to their place in the DC scene; Julie Ocean (love the Undertones tribute) is another very familiar local name. I have periodically been writing about some of the DC-area bands and performers whom I see in concert — Broke Royals, Cinema Hearts, Séan Barna, the Beauty Pill, etc. — so it's nice to see how the pieces all fit together.

Baltimore also has a neat scene, and you should be aware of Proper Nouns, whose album Feel Free is very much in the Game Theory-Ted Leo lineage.

I appreciated that Dot Dash entry too.

"Proto Retro" from 2018 is an incredible album, and "Madman in the Rain" is an instant classic.

STEVE if you’re a Dot Dash fan you should know that the Rockin’ the Suburbs podcast had like a four-part series with them talking through their latest record. It was just a week or two ago. Very erudite and thoughtful discussion.
