Damn! I have just been in a "Low" phase and was contemplating a "Lust For Life" phase next. Was thinking of how Gardiner was a Bowie guitarist who lived in the margins. Usually Bowie Guitarists get high profiles as a result of their service but I can't say that happened with Gardiner. The bulk of his work was with Beggars Opera before Bowie/Pop then afterward…not much of anything! His website said he was suffering from Parkinson's for the last 12 years. That's sad.

I recall an article commenting that Gardiner was invited back to the studio for the recording of Heroes, but found that invitation rescinded when he asked for more money.
