Another great show, 801.

I notice that it's now very trendy for bands to take on French names, what with Le Cheval sombre and Le Ciel rouge, not to mention Du Blonde, Blind Delon and Joan of Arc. Your French pronunciation is also markedly improving !

Lots of very good numbers today, including Dazy, Jane Inc, Cherry Glazerr and Nayad (many great female voices this week). And thanks so much for playing that new Besnard Lakes track. They hold a special place in my heart as they were the last band I saw live before leaving Paris in the summer of 2016. Given they don't make the news much, even on what should be their home turf here, I had no idea what they were up to. I shall now rush to check out where that song came from and add it to my collection.

Thank you, Philippe. I’m glad my program director was able to slot the show in the archive as last night’s live shot went horribly awry and it really was too good to waste.

The Besnard Lakes were the standout selection of the evening for me - such a captivating, cinematic sound. I can only imagine what they must sound like live...
