New Jesu? When did that happen? Must follow up.

The new Nels Cline Singers album is quite good. Kudos for playing one of its tunes. I doubt he gets much radio play, since he doesn't comfortably fit in either the rock or jazz box.

Michael,

The new Nels Cline was a joy to play - I had been sitting on it for a couple of weeks, waiting for the right time to slot it in.

Re. jesu, the new album Terminus drops 11/13/2020; the single I played was released 9/28/2020.

Meanwhile, a new EP was released 7/3/2020:
jesu - Never (EP)

Additionally, a new mix/master of Ascension with bonus tracks was released 5/1/2020:
jesu - Ascension (Deluxe+)

Good grief. I just assume Jesu was over once Godflesh started back up. Clearly I should've been paying attention. Thanks for the heads-up!

Another great show, 801.

First, thanks for playing my request. A couple of comments: Psychedelic Porn Crumpets joins that Swedish band you played a couple of weeks ago on the list of good bands with truly awful names. Wolfmanhattan Project escapes that distinction because it would be a great name for a Brian Jonestown Massacre tribute band. Given your propensity for finding music in obscure corners of the world, I expected Lande Hekt to be an underground German outfit, but it turns out she's the lead singer of Muncie Girls (whom I have heard of, even if I couldn't name any of the members). It was a highlight in any case, as were the track by Middle Kids, and the two whose virtues have already been extolled by Michael Toland - Thelonious Monster and Jesu.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your feedback, Philippe.

I really appreciate you taking the time each week to let me know what you think about the songs and artists on the show.

And it definitely goes a long way toward alleviating the limbo of lockdown I’ve been stuck in for the past 8 months smiling smiley

Be assured I really enjoy listening to the show and getting to discover all sorts of interesting new artists. There's not enough of that going on.

Exactly. Pulling my show together used to involve selecting my songs, gathering up the vinyl and CDs I would need, and going to the station on Friday nights. Now it takes me two or three evenings a week to record my show before sending it to KSER's operations manager. But hey, that means I have something to do, two or three evenings a week. (Can't brew beer every night.)

I’m averaging 10 hours of work spread out over three days a week, myself. I’ve always been the producer, engineer, social media director as well as the de facto host but this is getting ridiculous...

You can if you were drinking enough smileys with beer
