The entire Slash discography is like a left of the dial Who's Who: X, Dream Syndicate, Faith No More, The Blasters, Violent Femmes, Fear, The Germs, L7, Los Lobos... (all of whom belong in the RRHOF.)

Total visionary. He will be missed...

Yeah, I have a lot of stuff on the Slash label in my collection. I’d been reading about X in TP and creem... I decided to special order ‘Wild gift’ from my small-town record store (something I’d never done before). I felt like the coolest kid in the world when I got that record and listened to it.

I still feel that way when I hear it now!

Slash, Frontier, alternative tentacles and posh boy were labels that brought the exciting sounds of California into my rural bedroom. My poor parents.

Yeah, Slash became one of those record labels whose name was like a Seal of Approval. If it was on Slash, then you could buy it, knowing confidently that even if you didn't love it, it certainly wouldn't be a waste of your time.

What a great label. Also responsible for bringing a lot of the New Zealand stuff to American listening audiences, including the Chills' Submarine Bells.

And the Verlaines.
