Setlist from last night (16 October)

Last night's show included (among other things) a block dedicated to Bob Mould on his 60th birthday.

"Do It Again" - The Kinks
"Burned Out Love" - Shoes
"Back of My Hand (I've Got Your Number)" - The Jags
"When You Find Out" - The Nerves
"Like Wow - Wipeout!" - The Hoodoo Gurus

"Feeling Never Goes Away" - Dropkick
"Miss Fortune" - The Tex Reys (for guitarist/singer Brendan Kibble's birthday)
"Sometime Someday" - The Go Wows (ditto)
"Top Jimmy" - Van Halen (by request)

"Brickfield Nights" - The Boys
"Leaving Here" - The Sonics
"Dog at Large" - Naked Raygun (R.I.P. Pierre Kezdy)
"Blister" - Pegboy (likewise)

"Baby Needs a Cookie" - Bob Mould
"Needle Hits E" - Sugar
"Turning of the Tide" - Bob Mould
"Eiffel Tower High" - Hüsker Dü
"The End of Things" - Bob Mould

"Flower Into Wounds" - The Ninth Wave
"Age of Blows" - Spandau Ballet (for guitarist Gary Kemp's birthday)
"Down the Road" - Bachman-Turner Overdrive (for bassist Fred Turner's birthday)

"Do Better" - Zig Zag
"Mine" - Ohmme
"Changing" - The Moondoggies
"Why Me?" - Planet P (for Tony Carey's birthday)

"Bad Blood" - Working Men's Club
"You Got It (Release It)" - Pearl Harbor & the Explosions
"TVC 15" - David Bowie
"It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" - R.E.M. (by request)

"Follow That Car" - MX-80 Sound
"Dive" - Nirvana (for guitarist Jason Everman's birthday)
"Johnny Kick a Hole in the Sky" - The Red Hot Chili Peppers (for Flea's birthday)

The R.E.M. request came from a listener who pointed out that October 16th is the anniversary of Noah Webster's birth. In commemoration, she asked me to "play that R.E.M. song that has a lot of words."

Thank you for playing Shoes... one of my absolute favorite bands. Sometimes I really can’t believe how good they are at writing songs...and delivering them....and how oblivious the US is to them.

Ira wrote the liner notes to their ‘Shoes best’ comp... not too shabby!!

An outstanding show amongst all your outstanding shows, Delvin! Thank you.

Thanks, 801, that counts for a lot coming from you.

I too was going to salute the inclusion of the Shoes (though I'm sure they'd scorn my use of "the").

And your ability to track the most obscure of birthdays (Jason Everman!) never ceases to amaze me.

I *almost* thought you skipped playing Bowie. Had to double check.

I've always dug that Planet P song. It's so groovy and cheesy and earnest in it's cheesiness, but it's also great fun. And it has that cool ascending synth wash that's just a tick above a video game sound effect. I love it.

The "Back of Your Hand" song was apparently so Elvis Costelloesque that people thought it was him under an alias. That makes me laugh.
