Psychedelic Furs' Made of Rain

Anybody heard it? If so, what do you think?

I really like the tracks I've been able to include in my show. I have a copy waiting for me at a local store to pick up.

Me too! I think it's one of the top records of the year, except for the latter half. Those tracks are too slow for their own good but jesus does Richard sound great.

I've heard 2-3 songs. Nothing mind blowing, but really solid. Well, I guess it is impressive they've made songs this good after a 30-yr lay off. Pretty dark like their early stuff.

Still waiting to buy any new stuff. Commenters on postpunkmonk.com have given it a solid recommendation. I've no doubt that the current band can make a solid album. Just waiting for money to flow in. So many things to buy. So little cash.

Picked it up (double vinyl on purple wax!) and am listenng now. So far I agree that it's solid to quite good.

I notice it was recorded in St. Louis of all places. You run into Richard Butler lately, breno?

Richard Fortus, the producer, is a St. Louis boy. He was the leader of the locally beloved (not so much by me, but many other people in town) 80s Goth-leaning band A Pale Divine. They opened for the Furs on a tour around the dawn of the 90s - I guess either the Book of Days tour or World Outside. I have no clue which of those albums they toured for. Anyhow, Fortus ended up becoming good buddies with the Butler brothers on that tour and was in Love Spit Love with them, as well as being a touring member of the Furs off and on over the years. He also was one of the cast of thousands to do time in Guns N Roses during their wilderness years and played on Chinese Democracy. He's pretty much the reason the Furs are one of the few bands to actually bother coming to St. Louis on most of their tours, and generally he joins them onstage for a few songs. So when they decided they wanted to record a new album, they decided to have him produce it and came to the Lou to let him. Never saw them around town, though I have to admit if I had I wouldn't have noticed, as who the hell expects to see Richard Butler wandering around St. Louis?

EDIT: This is not the same Pale Divine as the metal band from Pennsylvania. Is Pale Divine a phrase I'm not familiar with or something? Seems weird that two bands would land on that as a name if it's not. Anyhow, the St. Louis goths had it first.

EDIT EDIT: Jeez, I'm reading his Wikipedia page and see that Fortus was also in whatever passes for Thin Lizzy in the 21st century. And he was touring with Enrique Iglesias when Tommy Stinson called him to be in GNR. The guy's been around!

Thin Lizzy??!! Who's fronting that? Scott Gorham's nephew?

Ricky Warwick, the former singer of the Almighty, is now the frontman of Thin Lizzy (or Black Star Riders, as they call themselves whenever they make new records). He also makes Johnny Cash-ish solo records. For what it's worth.
