Echo & the Bunnymen - "Villiers Terrace"

So at least it's a good one driving me nuts.

Big Star's version of "Motel Blues".......odd because I am neither in a motel , nor particularly blue right now.

But maybe it's a foreshadowing........

I've got to say having "Villiers Terrace" stuck in my head has not been unpleasant at all, nor was "Breather" by Chapterhouse, which was stuck there all day yesterday.

The worst ever was when I had "Where Is the Love" by Roberta Flack stuck in my head for over a month. It was misery. And now every time I hear that song anywhere I am terrified it's going to happen all over again, but fortunately it never has.

I had just read a Stephen King book ("It" - I think it was) and there was a part in an insane asylum where some pyromaniac kept whacking off screaming the Doors "Trying to set the night on fire!" My imagination of some nut screaming of that line over and over again went through my head for a few days

I've found that when I swim, some fragment of a song can drive me crazy (I imagine it is the same with any repetitive activity). In a race in college DOA's Dangerman "I'm the Dangerman, I always know the plan" over and over. Could've been worse though.

The Fortunes "Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again."

Not at all unpleasant, although it's going on the second day of being stuck, so I hope it leaves soon. It's one of my favorite Have A Nice Day songs and I don't wish to get sick of it. I keep getting brief bursts of "Uncle Albert//Admiral Halsey" popping in, so I'm trying to encourage that.

So far it's not so bad, but if it sticks around for very long this day could get ugly.

"Houses of the Holy" by Led Zeppelin. I've been listening quite frequently to "Physical Graffiti" lately, tuning in to random tracks here and there, and that song stands out. Classic Page riff and a quite lilting tone which still pleases as it did since time immemorial.

I'm starting on my fifth day of having that motherfucking "give my football back" song stuck in my brain. At first I thought it was only an annoying little trifle of a song, but after four days of it I hate it with an intensity I usually reserve for Chris Farley movies and neo-cons. I put "Yellow Submarine" on repeat all the way to and from work yesterday because that's usually like carpet bombing my brain and will almost always manage to chase away any annoying song. No dice.

Saw the Magic Numbers, Sonic Youth and the Flaming Lips tonight, all three of which have written a memorable song or three, but all I heard all night was the incessant "Eeeenie, meeeenie, run away....." running through my head.

Good Lord, this is misery. I'm either going to kill myself or the little fart who wrote the damn song - Jim Noir or whatever his name is. At the very least, if I ever meet him, I'm going to shove his damn football up his ass, along with a silly garden gnome like the one he broke. (With all due respect to Basil Fawlty, of course.)

Good night!
