I'll doff my hat to him in tribute as well. Hey, he certainly entertained me a lot more in my youth than Trans-Siberian Orchestra ever has.

Rickles was in Kelly's Heroes, in which Donald Sutherland and Gavin MacLeod played beatniks ten years too early. That's kind of a forerunner to punk.

Saw him live a few years ago! He had to sit, but was still sharp as a tack. Coulda ripped Johnny Rotten to shreds.

Not many of the Rat Pack generation left. Vegas headliners nowadays tend to be of the Donny Osmond/Celine/Cirque de Whatever variety.

Yes, although it's possible that you may be thinking of Mannheim Steamroller. Trans-Siberian Orchestra definitely were.

Ah, but there is a TP connection! during the `70s when sitcoms where trying to stay relevant with the changing times, Rickles' one attempt at a TV show, CPO Sharkey, not only had a scene at a punk show but got the Dickies to play.

Oh yeah! I heard about this, but that wasn't Rickles' one attempt at a TV show; it was the one of his many efforts that managed to stick for a few years. Bonus points for connecting Don Rickles to New Wave! You shame me, sir!

Robin Williams was pretty chameleonic ... and, like Bowie, his death was a huge awful surprise to most of his fans.
