R.I.P. Al Jarreau

Not exactly TP material, but he did personify a certain strain of smooth mainstream pop in the 80s.

He'd been sick off and on for years, as I recall.

I barely know any of his music, but "We're in This Love Together" has proven to be fairly immortal. May he rest in peace.

He was in a particularly funny SCTV episode where he figured in a great parody of the 1981 remake [Neil Diamond] of "The Jazz Singer." He played the adoptive son of short, crusty Yiddish SCTV character Sid Dithers [Eugene Levy] who was more interested in becoming a Cantor at the Synagogue than in laying down funky tracks with his rock producer dad in George Clinton drag.
