dance music after '96

recommendations needed for dance music after 1996. my sister is putting on her 'i'm 50' birthday bash. since her baby's birth in 1996, she lacks dance tune knowledge and desires to fill this vaccum of recent, up-beat songs. the party is the 24th. help very much appreciated.

Dance Music the genre (i.e. Madonna & Kylie Minogue), or Music You Can Dance To in general?

danceable indie-pop/rock is another story althogether. If that's what she'd like, I'm thinking bands like the Strokes or Franz Ferdinand might be more what you're looking for.

Lets take care of obvious ones first:

Fatboy Slim "Rockerfeller Skank" - y'know, the "funk soul brother" one - THE dance tune of the past decade
Fatboy Slim "Going Outta My Head"
Kylie "Can't Get You Outta My Head"
Chemical Brothers "Block Rockin Beats"
Beastie Boys "Intergalactic"
Daft Punk "Around The World"
Kelis "Milkshake"

On the more underground side:
LCD SoundSystem "Losing My Edge," "Daft Punk Is Playing At My House"
Audio Bullys "Ego War"
The Go! Team
Groove Armada "I See You Baby", "But I Feel Good"

'Course this reflects my taste - 50 year-old moms may not want their fillings knocked loose by "Block Rockin Beats" the way I do.

Crystal Method - "Busy Child," "Trip Like I Do"

Jeez, I like the idea of a Molotov track suddenly pumping out of you regular dance club speakers. That would shake them up!

If you liked that Latin thing, I would recommend the album Elevator by Titan (make sure you check out the interactive DC ROM section).

For nice sounds I would also have a look at -
Chicken Lips
Tim 'Love' Lee
Red Snapper
Rockers Hi Fi
David Holmes
John Tejada
Loop Guru

Another good Latin(esque) one that's gotten my attention is "Sexy" by Los Amigos Invisibles.
