Jah Wobble in DC

I was part of a small crowd the witnessed a very entertaining performance last Friday night. Jah Wobble and the Invaders of the Heart put on a show that started off jazzy, then jumped from movie themes to bluebeat, to his 'hits' and finally series of funky workouts of PIL tunes. During the show, Wobble played ringleader to the very talented Invaders, directing them when their solos came up, at times posing and preening for the cameras in the audience, and telling stories, possibly true, of his history of bass playing. During "How Much Are They", he would feign boredom and then get the drummer to play a little faster. This went on until they were playing at a speed metal pace and it was cool to see his fingers flying around on the bass. It was at the end of the set, during the delirious "Fodderstompf", when I looked around and noticed that the majority of the crowd was dancing (even I was moving more than normal), that I realized that this would've been a great show for a first date. Sadly, I didn't even bring my wife because I thought it would be too 'dubby' for her. Afterwards, when she heard about the show, let's just say I won't be making that mistake again.

I trust Wobble didn't have the goofy Johnny Rotten impersonator on hand to sing the PiL stuff they way he did on his tour with Keith Levene a few years ago?

No, though he did a silly chant: "We only wanted to be loved" in a Rotten-like voice for "Fodderstompf" and a tape of Rotten was played during "Poptones"
