I've wondered for years if Mack was still alive, frankly - he retired from the road about 15 years ago and seemed to drop off the face of the earth.

I've always dug him - not just his instrumental stuff from the 60s, but the country rock records he made in the 70s and the terrific album Strike Like Lightning that he made with Stevie Ray Vaughan in the 80s. I saw him play at Rockefellers in Houston once as well, and he was pretty great.

Here's my favorite song by him - atypical of his normal thang, but I love it.
