Colin Vearncombe [Black] in Critical Condition

Now that we're reeling from Bowie's death comes the news that Colin Vearncombe was in a serious car accident yesterday and is in critical but stable condition.

Let's hope that he makes a full recovery. His emergence was like a life preserver for me in the horror of the mid-80s.

For further rumination on the Fresh New Sound of Yesterday®

I only discovered Vearncombe & Black a couple of years ago when I went on a binge digging into the whole mid-80s UK Sophisti-pop/jazz rock scene. I liked what I heard from him - very smooth and well crafted stuff in the vein of Avalon and the quieter bits of Prefab Sprout. Hope he's able to recover fully from this.

Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case.
