I interviewed Bob Mould a year or so ago (it went unfortunately unpublished), and he told me the band members were talking again. But he indicated it was all about business. I know he badly wants to get the SST records away from Ginn and do a reissue series, and all three members and their management have to present a united front for that to happen. But he made it clear to me that he wasn't really interested in nostalgia, and that the then-current Workbook reissue and Copper Blue front-to-back shows were gonna be it for him when it came to celebrating past accomplishments.

So I think a musical reunion is unlikely. But who knows? Maybe they'll do a one-off show to celebrate a colleague or venue or support a big charity show. I can't imagine a tour or new music, though.

Undoubtedly, a lot of people didn't get to see the Dü in all their raging, melodic glory, and would love the chance. It's enough IMO that the three of them are talking and cooperating for their best shared interest. Hopefully, when all is said & done, they'll secure a good reissue deal, settle some business, unload whatever personal/emotional baggage they still tote around, bury the various hatchets, shake hands, and walk away richer, happier and more at peace. But a reunion? Don't do it unless you really want to, guys.

I wouldn't know about Norton, only because he's kept the music business at such a distance since the Dü's split. But based on all I've read and heard, I'd be shocked if Mould wanted to go there. And why should he? He's done well as a solo artist, and seems to be reasonably happy. And frankly, the above-mentioned Copper Blue live redux is all the revisiting I could ever ask from Bob. That was a hell of a great show.
