Ryan Adams - 1989

Its funny over the last year I listened to the original several times. I could hear some good songs behind the production and arrangements but struggled with it mightily. I am not sure why I don't like them. I like some upbeat pop (ok very little.) I just couldn't get into it.
Here is the answer. How You Get the Girl has been turned into an homage to Here Comes A Regular. (Obviously Ryan took alot of from the Mats but that discussion was for 2001.) The dude has been releasing music at a crippling pace. 9 three song eps since last fall. The full album last year. And now this. I won't be surprised if these are the versions that will be known in the long run. After Taylor Lindsay Lohans out on meth or just aims for an adult market, this is what she will be playing. The songs are too perfect like this.

Considering the makeover the album has gotten this year alone from at least two parties (Ryan Adams and Father John Misty), I feel extremely vindicated for calling "1989" best album of the year. (Search the threads to see I called it first.)

However, I don't think either version is necessarily "ready for prime time" but rather, should have been reserved for Record Store Day, reissues, etc. Father John's takes have already been yanked off the web -- mercifully, in his case, because he makes that Macauley Culkin Pizza Underground band look like The Beatles by comparison.

Also, Ryan Adams still isn't too "mainstream" (wish he were), so I would be very very surprised if Taylor Swift some day announces he made them his songs. Even with the deluge of coverage on Yahoo, etc., he's still confused with BRYAN Adams to a lot of people.
