The Most Iconic Band Pose of all Time?

I nominate this one. It's not only a famous image by itself, but it also pretty much defined the band's entire image. I'm sure there may be other poses that pull similar double duty, but I'm not thinking of them off the top of my head. But I welcome other nominations.



I'd also considered the Beatles leaping pose, but there seem to be several different versions of it and I'm not sure which is the most iconic.

I reckon the Abbey Road cover would be another strong contender, but it doesn't really seem like walking across a street really qualifies as a pose.

I guess I would define it as: a staged photo in which a band strikes a deliberate pose meant to convey the personality of the band.

So while I would say that the images above all fit, something like this would not, although it's a fairly famous image that captures the personality of the band:



So the criteria would be:

1. Is it an image of the band striking a pose, rather than just a shot of them in concert or some other context where the pose is not the main point of the photo.

2. Is it a famous enough image that it's the first mental image you flash on when you think about the band.

3. Does it communicate the band's personality? That's the part that makes me lean towards the Madness photo. Even if you never heard a note of their music, you could get a decent approximation of their sound & persona just by looking at that image, and I'm not sure that is true of all famous band poses.

For instance, the cover of Parallel Lines fits the first two criteria, but does it match #3? (I dunno. I'm asking because I can't decide.)

It's not a whole fookin band, but it's got to be something . . .
