Albums with incorrect artist

This is the only release I've purchased that contains a different artist than advertised on the cover. I was always curious about the pseudo-Hassles but thought I'd never know the true identity of the band (this was before the internet was prominent). 20 years later, I cracked the mystery:

Somehow, the Carlo Trenta tracks were released on a record credited to Billy Joel and the Hassels. Then in the '90s, Creative Sounds Ltd., exercising no quality control, added them to the Joel 2-fer cheapo.

Has anyone ever encountered this? In my years of record collecting, this is the only incident I've seen.

Drive On and Shouting and Pointing, the two albums recorded by Mott (minus the Hoople) following Ian Hunter's departure are regularly marketed as full-fledged Mott the Hoople albums nowadays, which is a load of crap.

The back cover of The Damned's first album included a photo of Eddie & the Hot Rods by mistake.

Mod band The Action's "Rolled Gold" LP, released in 1995 (and recorded in 67-68) should really be co-labelled: It's some failed Action demos and some demos that clearly mark the beginning of the psychedelic outfit Mighty Baby (formed after singer Reg King's departure). Still a dang good album for a set of demos; I just wouldn't be so quick to deem it the Action. This is significant to me, because I love the Action's Mod and soul . . . but can't stand Mighty Baby's (vastly different) flute-ridden, pseudo-jazzy pastoral psychedelia.

that wasn't actually a mistake -- it was Stiff's idea of a joke.

That's funny ira, makes me think of my Luther Campbell sings Glen Campbell Lp.

The 1969 Turnabout release of Carl Maria von Weber's "Piano Concertos Nº 1 And Nº 2" erroneously credits the "Vienna Pro Music Orchestra" ... when it was actually the Wiener Symphoniker.
