Exene was diagnosed with MS a few years ago, even cutting short a tour in 2011 when it got too bad. And yes, MS doesn't just mean difficulty in movements, but there are frequently psychiatric symptoms. From this article "Abnormal mental states in multiple sclerosis":

"changes in mental status are common in people with MS...Psychotic symptoms - delusions, hallucinations and thought disorder - are uncommon in MS but extremely distressing. This may result in family breakdown and nursing home placement. Symptoms are similar to those seen in 'functional' psychoses such as schizophrenia"
When Exene says that mass shootings are staged and the grieving father is an 'actor,' that suggests the kind of disconnection from reality that schizos have, e.g.: claiming that their parents are evil robots who just look like their parents, that kinda thing.

-Only 40% of people with MS reach the seventh decade of life [and Exene is 58]
- two-thirds of the deaths are directly related to the consequences of the disease. Suicide is more common
- Most people lose the ability to walk before death


Exene's been getting a lot of shit for her comments (understandably), but I say: back off. This is not the Exene we remember, she's changed.
She may not be long for this world, and she is def not enjoying this.
