the WHO gone punk

first off, i realize the WHO were the greatest trio with a singer ever (NIRVANA was the greatest-that is until CLOUD NOTHINGS (blew us all) from oHIo.
BEATLES then CHAMELEONS next for greatest four piece ever), even w/all this practical knowledge, still i wonder. did roger daltrey ever learn to play rhythm guitar?

i reckon they could A challenged the CLASH even...but whatevers.

as long as songwriters insist on writing songs on vintage gear- the passion for art remains exactly the same as it was yesterday (analog), today and will be tomorrow (digital).

New Cloud Nothings record.....meh . First one had more memorable songs in my opinion.

Daltrey plays guitar in the video for "Eminence Front," as I recall. The same two notes over, and over, and over...

Daltrey started as the band's lead guitarist, if I recall correctly. I know the early pictures have him on electric and Towshend on acoustic. The one time I saw the Who he played guitar on a blues cover ("I'm a Man," I think?).

None of that means he's any good, of course.

I went to see the Cloud Nothings 10 days ago. I had never heard them, but given the good things said on this board, I splurged for the ridiculously low cover charge. Opening act was Cheatahs, who are also worth checking out.

Excelllent, excellent show. Both bands have absolutely wild drummers who seemed ready for an IV transfusion by the end of their respective sets. Great guitar work as well on both counts.

I bought all of these fine folks' recent albums and they will soon be in my heavy listening rotation. They have to make their way to the top of the pile, however, as I decided fifteen or so years ago not to buy more than one new cd a week in order to restrain a spending habit that was threatening to swallow all my spare income and space. Any records I buy now go to the bottom of the "to be played list", and every Friday, I add the top one of those to the current rotation. After six weeks, that record moves to the permanent collection (i.e. is filed in alphabetical and chronological order on the appropriate shelf in my library) and a new cd joins the parade. The waiting list is usually between 5 and 10 records, although it's a bit more right now as I've made a number of purchases I will need to wait to hear.

I'm sure others on this board have equally strange systems.
