I Effin HATE Today!

Hey, I happen by chance to be just a few miles from Amoeba Hollywood! Got
a credit slip burning a hole in my pocket, let's go! (Sees the sign on the
front, gets a sinking feeling) Oh no, no...not...Record Store Day!?!

*dramatic sting*

DAMN it!

The line by the front door went down the block, around the corner, and
around the corner again, til the snake was almost eating it's tail.
No parking. Aw, come on!

Forget it. Went back home, mumble grumble...

Why?! What is the point, what do they got - free money and dancing gurlz?
What is the big deal?!

It is a bit of a pain in the ass for anyone who happily goes to record stores the other 364 days of the year. RSD is definitely the one day of the year I rule out going anywhere near a record store.

I probably ought to go over to Euclid Records in StL, though. They have The Minus 5, the Bottle Rockets, Sleepy Kitty, and several other damn good bands playing in store today. But I just don't want to bother with it.

I ended up at Mojo Music and Books today having no clue it was RSD. I had 30 minutes to kill before I had to meet my wife and daughter for dinner. I dragged my 10 year-old son in the store while I browsed the Sci-Fi book section, and he put down his Nintendo DS to crack up at the girl singing and playing the ukulele. It was painful. At one point she said "Thanks for coming out to Record Store Day," and I realized why the store was so busy.

Reno, you definitely had better music in you store, that's for sure.

I was initially skeptical of the RSD alternative National CASSETTE Store Day. However, given the much lower ratio of major label throwaways, I'll be giving it another look this year.

so ashamed, i'm thinking a career move to goodwill is in (er, uh (SORRY)store) so that i might take my earnings and reinvest them back in the company to complete my cheesecake collection.
