erik - can you play all the music? spotify seems to block out certain songs and i don't understand why

Ira, are you looking at the playlist now on the same computer that you compiled it on?

Spotify draws from the music on your local computer as well as from its own servers, so it's possible that the songs that are greyed out on the playlist were things that you had on the computer you used to put the playlist together (or on an external drive that was connected to it at the time) that aren't in Spotify's library. They'll still show up on the playlist, but won't be accessible to play.

Otherwise, I have a suspicion that some of the more obscure stuff on Spotify is stored on only one server without any backup, and if the connection to that server goes down for any reason, then that stuff is unavailable. I have a 60s playlist that's full of obscure psych/garage stuff that's constantly coming and going. It'll be there for a few weeks, then will be greyed out for a week or two, then come back with no explanation.

I see a tribute to Trouser Press for a future radio show. Ira, do you mind if I "mine" this playlist?
