I've generally found GWAR's records to be fairly useless, but I saw them last year at the Housecore Horrorfest and it was a hugely entertaining show. (I stood well back so as not to be soaked by Oderus' precious fluids, though most of the mayhem was onstage rather than off.) I'm sorry he's so suddenly gone.

A guitarist, but I don't recall the name.

Like Toland, I never really bothered with GWAR albums since they seemed kind of beside the point. They were a band that I liked the idea of and was happy they existed, but I can't say I ever heard a note of their music except what would get played during news items about them back when The Week in Rock was still a thing.

Cory Smoot was the guitarist's real name. They retired his character in honor. What I'm curious about is if GWAR will continue without its creator.

I did see them once. Hilarious, fun show. I couldn't hum a single song of theirs ... but from what I've gathered, neither can anyone else, so no biggie.

Wow. They were here just a couple of weeks ago for Soundwave and ended up in the mainstream media for decapitating an effigy of our fuckhead Prime Minister at every show. A guy I know was on the bill and said "he was only yelling at me the other week".

I was never even remotely into GWAR's music, but have vague memories of really enjoying their appearance on the Jerry Springer show. The funniest stuff involved the late Mr. Brockie attempting to carry on a serious conversation about responsible parenting with a typically calm and erudite Springer Audience while decked out in his full Oderus regalia. Very funny stuff.
