PIXIES (Mulcahy) show. . .

I'm going to see their tour warm-up show at the Calvin Theater in Northampton, Mass. on Tuesday. I'll give a full report on their first non-Kim bass player. Mark Mulcahy is opening.

Frankly, I'm more interested in the Mulcahy show than the Pixies, so I eagerly await your report.

I'm in the enviable position of liking both of them a lot.

Those kinds of shows are the shit. I saw a show in the first half of 2013 that featured Kylesa, witchy hard rock band Blood Ceremony and psych rock power trio White Hills, all of whom I really dig, and was giddy the whole time. No sitting through a blah opening act or paying through the nose for a shitty headliner to see the opening act...just pure bliss all the way through.

I'd have my doubts about the amount of bliss to be gained from seeing the Pixies these days, but as long as Erik has no such doubts, that's all that matters!

I too would be interested to see Mulcahy, especially since I never saw Miracle Legion. He's been all over the place lately (I think I heard him on "Fresh Air" on NPR last week), which is great. That guy needs to finally get some recognition and some fucking money.
