I was just checking out NPR's in memoriam list of musicians who died in 2013 and was shocked to see that the magnificent Tuvan throat singer Kongar-ol Ondar died back in July. I missed that news back then, but that is a major bummer.
If you've never seen the documentary
Genghis Blues, I demand that you track it down and watch it right now. It's one of the best music documentaries I've ever seen, and it's impossible to watch it without loving Ondar and Paul Pena (also sadly departed). That movie made me actually like the song "Jet Airliner," though I still dislike Steve Miller's version of it.
