Steve Kilbey has fired Marty Willson-Piper and replaced him with a guy from Powderfinger.

Apparently Willson-Piper was having a hard time clearing his schedule for Church functions, or at least to the extent Kilbey would've liked.

Marty has a new project out called MOAT. Incidentally, he has his back catalog on offer at his website for free or name-your-own-price.

I know Marty didn't agree with Kilbey's posturing last year about being ripped off by their record company. I'm not surprised they're no longer working together. I bet it's temporary, though.

Yeah, though the split was just announced this week, reading around it appears that he may have been gone a while back. I don't know how many albums they have left in them, but I also hope it's temporary.

MWP's new gig...I am surprised to say the least. This is a far cry from "Russian Autumn Heart," but it oddly seems to fit. Be sure to check out the video.

I have several Anekdoten albums. Good band - very early Crimson influenced.

I knew of the band but had never heard their music...just knew they were a prog band. I listened to their latest album and it sounds pretty good. MWP guested on one song.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of his playing, and based on how The Church's music has changed over the years, I guess it's not that big of a stretch for MWP.
