A Good Day for Muzak

I was in the cheap grocery store in the borderline sketchy neighborhood near work today and the muzak was playing "Mendocino" by the Sir Douglas Quintet. From there I went to Walgreens, where I was greeted by "Dyslexic Heart" by Paul Westerberg, followed by "The Breakup Song" by Greg Kihn, a song I probably hadn't heard in a decade or so. It was a good day to be running errands.

Nothing beats "This is Radio Clash" and BOC's "The Red and the Black" at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Or "Lost in the Supermarket" ... in the supermarket.

I had such high hopes for my nephews, but they report being thoroughly blown away by the Mumford & Sons concert they saw last week. I told them, "Is that a band? Jeez, I thought they were plumbers." (Don't worry, it's all good; those boys have a snarky streak too.)

The backing track for the summary of the rugby on the weekend was the Beatie Boys' Sabrosa.

Fenway Park has been playing the Beasties' "Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament" a lot.

I also heard Link Wray's "Rumble" a few times when relievers were coming out.

I was watching an Orioles game on TV a few weeks back, and I could hear The Stranglers' "Golden Brown" playing on the PA system.
