Great article. Very sad about Laura's near-deafness. They sound like a really nice group of pepole. Wurster has fabulous hair. I bought the album and listened to it on the commute home. Sounds a step or two below Majesty Shredding on first listen. Mac's voice sounds ragged. I seriously wish the song containing the "I hate music" line was not called "Me and You and Jackie Mattoo". There is a fun and ridiculous one minute pseudo-hardcore song which made me smile. Will keep listening.

p.s. It's great that some NC minor league baseball player has "The Diaz Brothers" play over the speaker every time he comes up to plate. That Transcendental Youth record was a good one and that cut is gold.

I like Majesty Shredding immensely better than I Hate Music.

"Low F" is the only song I've really connected with on the new one.

But it is a great article. . .and I do love a good Pawsox reference.

I'm pretty sure Wurster uses lots of conditioner. If I had a thick head of hair like that, I would too.

The Durham Bulls are the AAA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays in case anyone is wondering. Cole Figueroa had a nice Spring Training for the Rays but couldn't crack the big league roster. That's about my only comment on the article as it mentioned a bunch of bands I don't care that much about. Anything related to baseball, though, will interest me at least a little bit.

My mother and stepfather have been at several of those Moral Mondays protests, but have yet to be arrested (fingers crossed). My home state of Georgia's not known for its progressive stance on anything, but it seems like NC took a reactionary stance to so many things...it's depressing.

And yet, here are these hard-working people. I love Darnielle's enthusiasm, too. He's a new convert.
