Channing Tatum is....John Cale!

I'm amused every time I see the preview for that dopey White House Down movie and see Channing Tatum introduce himself as "John Cale," mainly because it lets me imagine a much more interesting movie in which a viola sawing, avant grade Welshman saves the president of the US of A.

The tagline would be "Fear is a man's best friend...especially when he's the leader of the free world!"

Applause! Thanks for bringing this to my attention since I try to ignore our "culture." I don't ignore Cale, though! I can hardly wait for the Hopscotch Festival in September! Cale and Pere Ubu make it a must-see, unlike this cinematic offering. I never thought I'd see Cale again in this state [North Carolina].

Hope the festival is a great time, Monk! I had the pleasure of seeing Mr Cale about six months ago; fantastic show.

John Cale, protecting President Reed and First Lady Nico. With a special appearance by Andy Warhol as the mysterious CIA operative. That would be intriguing. "From the makers of 'Die Hard,' with Captain Beefheart."

Got to be a coincidence, since I can't imagine some dopey Hollywood script-writer actually knowing who Cale is.

Reminds me of the time some ladies at the office were overheard discussing John Cage. Huh..?! Turns out that was the name of some tv character. For a second there I thought that I had fallen into an alternate universe where I had mainstream tastes.

There was a character on 'Lost' who was in a Brit-pop band with his brother Liam. I think we can safely say that reference was intentional.

John Cage was a character on Ally McBeal.

Excuse me while I go drown myself for knowing that.

Ain't no shame in watching Ally McBeal! At least it tried to do something different. What it was, I don't know.

I'm still trying to imagine Lou Reed as President. The risk to diplomatic relations alone is enough to make me lose sleep at night.

True, but I still imagine him treating most heads of state, ambassadors and such with about the same deference & respect that he accords journalists.
