Jeepers! We just saw Laurie Anderson a few weeks ago in April [after Lou cancelled his latest gigs] and she stayed at Salem College a full week in residency, culminating in a concert. That couldn't have been easy! It
was a sweet gig though. Totally free since it was paid for by a deep-pocketed patron for an artistic endowment. A rare example of "trickle-down" economics having a palpable benefit in my life.
The first time we saw Anderson, she was performing at the [Charleston, SC] Spoleto Festival in 2006. This was several weeks after our [great] Lou Reed show in town. When my wife saw an empty chair on stage, stage left, she said "that's where Lou Reed is going to sit," and darn if she wasn't right! Lou came out for a few numbers as a bonus. All the best to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson.
