Jake Bugg?

Has anyone gotten into him here? I must have watched that Gatorade commercial a gazillion times before finally seeking out the artist of that "Lightning Bolt" song. Turns out there are a handful of tracks on that album that are pretty remarkable. (Heavy rotation here in the Hage household.) He's a 19-year-old from Nottingham, UK, who (to these over-used ears and this over-used brain) marries early, early Dylan and the Las.

So sick of that haircut, though--burned out on it in the 1990s, from the time I saw Weller at the Town Hall in 1993 through the whole Oasis. . . THING.

I've been following him for a while, thanks to a co-worker who knew about him from living in the UK. I think he's amazingly talented for someone so young. I wouldn't normally buy a song called "Seen It All" from a 19-year-old, but he sells it. I like his record a lot.

I've also seen him live, and in that arena he needs work. He doesn't seem comfortable playing in front of people at all. He doesn't need to be flamboyant, but he should smile once in a while and let us know if he is, in fact, enjoying himself.

I mostly like him too. He was tipped to me by a friend who's well aware of my Lee Mavers/La's obsession and he evokes the same sort seems to come easy to him talent on a few tracks (though not on the same level).

It's a very listenable album.
