not the band from boston. the constellation in the sky. first i noticed it was upside down. a few miutes later, i looked up (purely out of boredom) and happened to notice, the constellation was traveling east to west. sort ofr scooping up its mess as it went along. any star gazers beside me out there?

No, but I like songs about stars and other astronomical pheonomenon, especially if they're by Blue Oyster Cult.

Actually if I lived out in the midwest or southwest where the sky is huge and uncluttered, maybe I'd have something to look at.

I live in the Midwest and the night sky used to be mind-boggling. However, the closest city has grown quite a lot over the last twenty years and the stargazing ain't what it used to be.

Who needs starlight anyway? Don't you much prefer the friendly artificial glow off your TV set?

...

A nice star-themed mix sounds like a great idea.

Here are a few suggestions (in no particular order):

When You Wish Upon A Star - Cliff Edwards
Star Sail - Verve
Star of Hairs - Robyn Hitchcock
Lost Star - The Jesus And Mary Chain
There's A Little Blue Star In The Window - Henry Burr
Super Falling Star - Stereolab
Stella By Starlight - Chet Baker
Stars - The Clean
Lady Stardust - David Bowie
The Evening Star - The The
Star Song - Vince Guaraldi
Dark Star - Beck
Starpower - Sonic Youth
Stars - The xx
Blue Star - Bailter Space
Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes - Perry Como
Vein Of Stars - The Flaming Lips
A Falling Star - Opal
Stars Are Stars - Echo & The Bunnymen
Starship - Spacemen 3
Star Eyes - Charlie Parker
Wanderin' Star - The Perect Disaster
Star Witness - Neko Case
Starry Eyes - Roky Erickson
Will There Be Stars - Blonde Redhead
Stars Are In Your Eyes - Kendra Smith
Stardust - Benny Goodman Orchestra
Lucky Star Love - Giant Sand
Corcovado - Stan Getz & João Gilberto

...

How soon you'll be able to read this depends on how long it takes the light to reach your eyes.

I'm a stargazer. I can find and identify around twenty constellations.

A thing I try to do each summer is to drive out to a dark place, lay down, and listen to the entirety of APOLLO ATMOSPHERES & SOUNDTRACKS.

On a semidemiquasi-related note, I've belatedly grabbed a copy of "We Are The Dreamers" by a Pennsylvania (Poconos?) band called The Stargazer Lilies. I believe it was released in 2013.

It's a real post-MBV beauty ... all wobbly, smeared guitars and airy-fairy vocals. I highly recommend it to anyone into that sort of thing. They have a few non-album MP3s floating about on the internet as well.

Other applicable reference points might be: Blonde Redhead (see: Vocals, Wispy Female) and Slowdive (See: Guitars, Delay-drenched). Maybe even Flying Saucer Attack?

Suggested LP sleeve blurb: "They heard you liked delay, so they put some delay on the delay."
