The Three O'Clock

Somewhat to my amazement, The Three O'Clock are on Conan O'Brian tonight, and will be playing some reunion shows including Coachella.

I'm not a huge fan but I'm surprised/impressed that they're getting out there again. Apparently they had some songs in the Carrie Diaries??

My fandom waned over the years, but I'd still like to see this, as I never saw them play.

I'm intrigued by the reactivated Three O'Clock. I liked all of their albums. Even the 'bad' ones were pretty great records for my ears. Many thanks, zwirnm, for posting that link. It was loaded with potent info for the Three O'Clock fan! Especially nice to know that if I can't the the live album on RSD, that I can order from the label! And that new comp CD is pretty sweet, too.

For further rumination on the Fresh New Sound of Yesterday®

I've not watched a second of The Carrie Diaries, as Carrie Bradshaw is a monster whose origin story I'm not particularly interested in learning. But someone has compiled the songs played on the soundtrack and there's some interesting stuff going on:

The Three O'Clock, Felt, Eyeless in Gaza...it's impressive that whoever is putting together the soundtrack is digging a little deeper than the typical '80s musical cues.

It's also reasonably impressive that, as near as I can tell, they seem to be playing fair with the time frame - I suspect from looking at this link that the show is set in 1984, and except for some re-recordings of stuff by current artists, everything that young Carrie seems to be listening to is stuff she actually could have had access to in 1984 - nothing's getting snuck in from 1986 or something.

So I tip my hat to whoever is assembling the music for this show that I intend to never watch.

Ah, I think it's the SXSW gig I remember. I wasn't able to go, but thought that was cool as hell.

i was thinking i might stay up and watch the Padres - Dodgers game, but seeing the THREE O"CLOCK head lining the tp just about completes my friday night.
