Now if only Glass Eye would realize from the Grulkefest thing how much they were missed...

Cool. I'd be interested to see how Rey Washam changes the dynamic of the group. His drumming style wouldn't necessarily seem to lend itself to the Believers' sound, but maybe it works.

Trust me, it works. He was the original drummer, though he didn't record either of their albums. But he's the only drummer I've seen them with, in '94 (when they did a reunion show to promote the Ryko reissue) and last year. He's the powerhouse engine they need.

Huh. I have the True Believers album/compilation (?) on Ryko. Should listen to it. Once I inadvertently offended Alejandro Escovedo by requesting a True Believers song at a solo gig.

Oh, I have no doubts as to Rey's powerhouse-ness. He's one of my favorite drummers (Two Nuns and a Pack Mule may be the the best-drummed album of all time, if you ask me), but I just can't necessarily see him in that setting. I'd love to, however....

That happened to me once, though it was a Buick MacKane gig. It was very ill-attended - indeed, the band was playing to me and my two friends. We kept asking for TB songs that either his brother or Jon Dee Graham had written. We weren't trying to wind him up - my only copy of the TB album was a cassette with no songwriting credits, produced like a demo so the vocals all sounded like they were the same person. I genuinely didn't know they weren't his songs.
