Sandy Songs

The New Yorker has a list of songs featuring the name Sandy, in deference to the mighty storm:

They of course forgot the best one of the bunch - "Hey Sandy" by Polaris, the theme song to The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

Never heard any of those, I thought the most famous would be from the "Grease" soundtrack, or Ronny & The Daytonas (the surfy b-side instro version's even better.)

Personally, I'd go for:

T-Bone Walker "Stormy Monday"
Red Krayola "Hurricane Fighter Plane"
Kate Bush "Cloudbusting" (and the song that sampled it- Utah Saint's "Something Good")
The Paragons, or Blondie "The Tide Is High"
Peter Gabriel "Here Comes The Flood"
They Might Be Giants "Flood"
Johnny Cash "Three Feet High And Rising" (and the De La Soul song that sampled it)
maybe something from the Beastie Boys' DJ Hurricane

Couldn't bear to listen to the Doors' 'Riders On The Storm,' but could def go for the Go Home Productions mashup with Blondie: "Rapture Riders."

Several of my well-meaning friends here in the Midwest have sent their thoughts to our friends out east by posting "Riding the Storm Out" by REO Speedwagon on Facebook.

I did not do so, as I don't believe in piling misery atop misery.

Ah, I shouldn't pick on poor REO. Kevin Cronin was a TP reader, after all.

Neil's "Like A Hurricane", or Roxy Music's cover.

Violent Femmes - It's Gonna Rain
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Muddy Water
Tom Waits - any number of bad-weather songs. "More Than Rain" or "Blow Wind Blow" or "Rains On Me" would be fine.

In a TP-dominated alternate universe, this latest storm might have been called Hurricane Sinead.

Um. Fight the real enemy. Y'know?

In the early 70s there was Public Service Ad on TV with a song about Sandy for an intro. The lyrics as I remember them:

“Sandy is the girl I married. Oh Sandy girl. Your face is so sunny and you aren’t a little funny but what would I do without you dear”.

Trying to find it. Anybody recognize?
Thanks
