Such pathetic, mediocre displays. He should've gone to the GG Allin School of Rock. Who knows, he might've discovered something new. Like combining his mouth, asshole and dick into one convenient gesture.

And now he's in rehab. A real punk would just go and self-destruct...but then we'd be subject to TV commercials with Tre Cool changing the oil in his motorcycle telling us that drugs suck (which they do, of course). Where have I seen this before...

Has anyone heard one or more of the new Green Day albums? I havent like this band since Maximum Rock and Roll disowned them in 1991, but am hearing positive things about the new records.

The last GD music I heard was stuff from American Idiot. I'd call their genre classic rock more than punk. It's not bad, actually, but it's got little to do with the Clash etc.

As far as his problems, sounds like the usual rock star cliches to me. Good luck to him in rehab.

i like green day but then again i like elp and obnoxious jerks also.
i do wonder though if he would have broken a guitar if it was his only guitar or it would have set him back financially to get another one.

I like Green Day, but I agree with Mr Toland. Their last two albums were much more classic rock, opera conceits and all. The Foxboro Hot Tubs album was classic-derived, too. So was the album Green Day recorded as The Network, provided you consider New Wave to be "classic" (which I do).

That said, I've heard good things about ¡Uno! too. Looking forward to seeing if it measures up.

I listened to ¡Uno! this weekend. For pure enjoyment, it beats anything the band has done under its own name since Dookie. (The Foxboro Hot Tubs album was a lot of fun, after all.) If you aren't a fan already, this disc probably won't change your mind. But the group drops all the rock opera ambitions (or pretensions) of its last two albums and just lets it fly. Works for me.

If American Idiot is the only one I can sit through* will I like the latest?

*I have one of the original 7" vinyls but haven't tried it in awhile; the 1000 hour split with Operation Ivy or some such; probably wouldn't sit through it though
