Whats the matter with guy? Why cant he release a song without a false start / the tape being cut off or some other monstrous recording mistake? But I do like this song. Its even got strings!

He sounds like he's having a good time. Typically odd yet effective lyrics...

"You ain't broke, but you're badly bent"

Some day he's going to release a box set of all these basement recodings from Stere/Mono onward.......... and people are going to be shocked at how many very fine tunes he's managed to bang out in this era.

His manner of releasing stuff on uneven full-lengths, and the on purpose screw-up of the recordings makes it hard to get your head around his work now, but he's done some great stuff after a long period of losing his way. If you cherry-picked the best of it, it's pretty impressive.

This is another good tune - and like all his best stuff it's very, um, Westerbergian, not him trying to be somebody else.

Paul and Tommy rocking out for poor Slim!

Poor guy. I still dont think of him as a real Replacements member but there is actually some pretty damn good (if over-processed) guitar on that Dont Tell a Soul record.

"Tommy and I strapped on guitars, not a word was said, and bang," said Westerberg. "We still rock like murder."

And, there it is.

Egos aside, guitars on.
