grammys

I generally ignore the Grammys as an event that takes place in a completely different dimension than the one I inhabit, but I'm genuinely curious about how nominations are made, etc. I just don't see how Green Day can still be winning awards for an album that came out in mid-2004. And what is the difference between song of the year, performance of the year, single of the year, yadda yadda yadda infinitum?

Even if I cared about the Grammy's, I just don't see how anyone could make heads or tails out of them, because everything seems so arbitrary - there are too many categories that make little or no sense and the timeline for nominations for a particular year seems to be pretty malleable. I just don't understand them at all.

I agree with your views. It's all very corporate to me - MTV in suits and gowns.

It's nice to know U2 beat out Mariah though, for whatever theire worth nowadays.

or how the fucks at sony took the sly stone tribute album realeased on starbucks label last year, put 2 new songs on it, re-launch it yesterday, and have everybody on the cd (including the producers Randy Jackson, Niles Rodgers, and Steve Jordan) play at his grammy tribute last night., not to mention haulin' his wasted carcass out for 30 seconds just to make it legit.
disgusting

U2 walked away with five Grammys. That makes 20 for them. Again, they won for the same album they won for last year. If you look at past wins, you'll see it makes no sense.
"If you think this is going to go to our head, it's too late," Bono (2006 Grammys).

Who else won?
Marlo Thomas.
Yup.
When I say Marlo Thomas, what do you picture?

That reminds me - is Husker Du's version of the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme available on disc anywhere?

It's available on the "Eight Miles High/Makes No Sense at All" 4 track single CD-EP, which I believe is still in print (4th cut is a live "Masochism World" if I remember correctly).

What did this year's grammy's mean to me?

No corporate puss can shut that glorious big fat Bono mouth.

And I don't suppose he aims to be shuttin it off any time soon by his own accord neither.

Why the fuck should he?

Oh..., Ok, he flaps them gums for fans, aye? Is zat right?

Sheeee-ut, that fucker could silent fart and conjure up a stench-i-fied grace that would send that Coldplay feller lookin fer bottled air. Sad the old timer had to bury (and nearly all the rest) of the young pups.

All that said McCartney is GOD and should tour with Elvis Costello.

Price____?
