The dangers of live performance!!!

For reasons I myself don't understand, I was reading an article about Pink, Joe Jonas and John Legend's girlfriend criticizing Chris Brown for lip synching at some awards show last night. I don't know that I could identify a single song by anyone involved except Pink, who I've always kind of liked.

Anyhow, Chris Brown - who is someone who I thought was mostly known for beating the shit out of Rihanna and I am therefore kind of shocked to discover he still has a career - has some very vocal defenders, most of them obviously 14 year old girls who apparently wouldn't mind getting pounded on by a guy as long as he was famous.

But this reply to the story is one of my favorite message board comments ever:

"Have we ever sat down to ACTUALLY think about whether it was in Chris Brown’s PHYSICAL capacity to ferociously sing AND perfectly dance ?? The average person can barely pull off 1 of those activities for more than 10 minutes. IT IS SIMPLY TOO HARD.

Now I am ALL for singing LIVE & Dancing live, but if it could potentially KILL HIM…then I can deal with a lil lypsyncing…"

Yes, Chris Brown's fans defend his lip synching on the basis that actually singing while simultaneously dancing is potentially fatal. If Milli Vanilli had thought of that defense, poor Rob Pilatus might still be alive.

Tell that to James Brown or Michael Jackson!

Well, but James Brown and Michael Jackson are both dead, and can you PROVE that it's not because they danced and sang simultaneously in live performance without lip synching?

If only they'd lip synched, they might both still be alive today.

Does that include Elvis Presley?
