Im looking for new bands to listen to, in the vein of The Mooney Suzuki, The Von Bondies, The White Stripes, and other garage rock.

Sometimes its better to go back to old bands-which may be new to you. such as Suicidal Tendenies, D.I., JFA, Misfits. This is garage/punk rock. Good-luck!

If you're looking for something "in the vein" of current neo-garage rockers, I highly suspect American hardcore outfits like Suicidal or the Misfits will be your destination. Try some of the original '60s garage stuff that modern bands like the Mooney Suzuki and the Hives are directly aping--Them, the Yardbirds, the Standells or the hundreds of other lost Nuggets and Pebbles--or go directly to the source behind J. White's shuck 'n' jive routine and listen to bluesmen like Son House and Blind Lemon Jefferson. (Or you can always just say 'screw the old ****' and search for the Black Keys or the Kills or the Datsuns or the Libertines or the Warlocks or the Greenhornes or the D4--good garage ruckus from this millenium.)

If it's new garage rock/garage punk bands you're lookin' for, check out the New Breed forum on the GaragePunk.com Forums message board:

[forums.garagepunk.com]

Too many great new bands to mention. But that forum's a good place to start.

There are other forums for '50s/'60s garage/rock'n'roll (incredible resource!), '70s punk, '80s/'90s garage/surf revival, as well as regional forums, politics and a great trash culture forum. Don't say I didn't warn ya!

Stay sick,
kopper

Washington D.C.'s "RUSTBUCKiT". ...two former members of DC hardcore vets Black Market Baby
(Boyd Farrell-Vocals and Mike Dolfi-Guitar) have started up this new metallic/punk sounding band...Check out their MP3's on this site...
