I've been listening to the Motors over the weekend, and while I can see why the band approved of the album
Approved by the Motors, as the music on it is mostly aces, I'm flummoxed as to why they would've approved the album cover.
Good lord, has there ever been a band that would've been better served by keeping their mugs out of view of potential fans? Did they look at this album cover and think "Oooo, all the little birdies are going to swoon over us"?
The look like, clockwise from bottom left:
Man transforming into a werewolf (Ricky Slaughter)
Cletus the Grease Monkey (Bram Tchaikovsky)
The Village Idiot (Andy McMaster)
The Soviet Premiere in his weekend clothes (Nick Garvey)
Not sure if this was the cover on the UK edition:
or if someone just looked at the other cover and said "oh Hell no!" and issued a different version with the band members' faces obscured by a wet windshield. Whoever made that decision definitely earned their bonus for the year.
