Songs About Movies

I know in the past we've covered the topic of songs inspired by books. But I don't think we've ever done songs inspired by specific movies. (Though a few of the following are from movies based on books, so they could work for either list).

One caveat - not really looking for songs written expressly for a given movie soundtrack, like "Live and Let Die" or "Pet Sematary" - just ones where the musicians were a fan of a movie and wrote a song about it.

Kate Bush - "The Red Shoes"
Fishbone - "It's a Wonderful Life"
Redd Kross - "Zira" (Planet of the Apes)
Roky Erickson - "Creature With the Atom Brain"
Roky Erickson - "I Walked With a Zombie"
Stump - "Charlton Heston" (The Ten Commandments)
Harvey Danger - "Carlotta Valdez" (Vertigo)
Pixies - "Debaser" (Un Chien Andalou)
Urban Verbs - "Luca Brasi" (The Godfather)
Deep Blue Something - "Breakfast at Tiffany's"
Adam and the Ants - "Los Rancheros" (For a Few Dollars More, Hang 'Em High)
Scott Walker - "The Seventh Seal"
White Stripes - "The Union Forever" (Citizen Kane)
Ultravox - "Hiroshima Mon Amour"
Blink 182 - "A New Hope" (Star Wars)
Bruce Springsteen - "Nebraska" (Badlands)
David Allen Coe - "I Made Linda Lovelace Gag" (Deep Throat)

Not sure if "Reap the Wild Wind" by Ultravox is about the movie of that name, or just lifted the title. Same with "Where Eagles Dare" by the Misfits and "Island of Lost Souls" by Blondie.

"Jocko Homo" by Devo lifts its most famous line from Island of Lost Souls, but the song itself isn't actually about the movie.

The Misfits have a ton of them and most actually have to do with the movies. "Return of The Fly," "Night of The Living Dead"... Anyways here is a list.

Here's a few from films that didn't exist:

The Church's "Dome" begins with the line "I saw this film about some people who lived in a dome." The lyrics then go on about how the guy watching the movie fell asleep before it was over, and then tells how he dreamt the movie ended. Very cool.

Similarly, Mountain did "Theme From an Imaginary Western," just not as cool as The Church.

The Big Dish's "Swimmer" is based on the film "The Swimmer"...based on the John Cheever short story of the same name. I might've actually cited this in the book thread. Either way, the film's trailer is priceless.

"The Killers 1964" by Ida, about the movie, "The Killers," released in - well, 1964.

It mentions Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson, and the lyrics, "You punched Ronald Reagan, right in the face." Based on a story by Ernest Hemingway.
