Today is
Beatles Day. I had no idea the Fab Four had a specific day of the year set aside in their honor. Apparently, it's an annual observance in Liverpool and Hamburg, on the date of the group's return to the UK from its first American tour, and the premiere of
A Hard Day's Night.
Looking at the web site, it looks like just a big cash-in day ... but from this side of the ocean, that's no reason not to observe it, in my opinion. (Mardi Gras is a big cash-in, too, but I sure enjoyed celebrating that, when I had the opportunity.)
I suppose a favorite Beatles album or two should be on my playlist today.
A Hard Day's Night sounds as good as any, to start with.
