I have nothing profound to say except that a Soft Boys-based Pandora station produces good stuff, they are the best band to have ever existed, and I will gut-shoot anyone who argues otherwise.

The Big Boys are still legends in Austin, of course, and so many bands have spawned from their ashes it's ridiculous. R.I.P. Biscuit...

Pandora proves the golden rule: companies that dont make anything physical people actually pay money for are always worth a helluva lot more than companies that do.

I'm with ya, Willie - the Soft Boys are right up there with the Minutemen and XTC as my favorite bands of all time. I also have them as one of my Pandora channels, but have never found it to be particularly enlightening, however.

And yes, I'd consider myself a Big Boys fan, Nosepail, tho I don't listen to them all that often. Any band with Rey Washam on drums is worth hearing....

Soft Boys. Dead Boys. Big Boys. Fat Boys. Boys 2 Men.

Boys keep swinging.

...

I love the Soft Boys and usually name "Underwater Moonlight" as one of my all-time 3 favorite LPs. "Daydream Nation" and "Psychocandy" are usually the other 2.

...

You have one CD-R to encapsulate the Soft Boys. What's on it?

Edited to add:

Here's my list. The running order isn't totally set in stone. Any glaring omissions?

01 (I Want To Be An) Angelpoise Lamp (live)
02 The Pigworker (live @ Lady Mitchell Hall, 1978)
03 The Face of Death
04 Give It To The Soft Boys (slow take)
05 Human Music
06 Sandra's Having Her Brain Out
07 Fatman's Son
08 Wading Through A Ventilator (live)
09 The Asking Tree
10 He's A Reptile
11 Empty Girl
12 Blues In The Dark
13 Old Pervert
14 I Got The Hots
15 Tonight
16 Only The Stones Remain
17 Vegetable Man
18 Insanely Jealous
19 I Wanna Destroy You
20 The Queen Of Eyes
21 Underwater Moonlight

...

No bootlegs allowed. No "Vyrna Knowl Is A Headbanger."

Not easy pruning tracks off "Underwater Moonlight." It's like taking a cheese grater to human flesh.

No tracks off the reunion CD. Sorry. I like it, but it's hardly essential.

Underwater Moonlight, Double Nickels, and Black Sea are my top 3, Kay.

Shit, I'll hafta ponder that one-CD distillation of the Soft Boys. Not sure what from Underwater Moonlight, wouldn't make the cut, so that's half of it right there. Off the top of my head, I'd also include Pigworker, Leppo, Blues In The Dark, When I Was A Kid, Wey-Wey-Hep-A-Hole, Human Music....

It's interesting that yr heaping accolades on a title that was unavailable for many years.

It's still better than critics doing the same for the Beach Boys' Smile — an album that practically nobody heard.

Or that didn't come close to living up to its legend.
